Description

As a Community Trainer your primary responsibility is to provide support, guidance, and training to adults with disabilities. Your role will involve fostering independence, promoting self-advocacy, and enhancing overall quality of life for the individuals you serve. You will use a tailored approach to meet participant's unique needs and goals through Person Centered Planning.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implements program curriculum, schedules, and activities as required by program design, and based on the needs and interests on the individual's needs.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager and support team to create a diverse range of activities for participants, on a bi-weekly schedule that supports their individual goals.
  • Identifies strengths, desires, talents, skills and challenges of their assigned participants. Provides this information to Case Managers and support team.
  • Teach and assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADL), such as communication skills, vocational skill and other sills determined by the support team.
  • Recognize and address emotional and behavioral challenges faced by disabled adults. Offer guidance, coping strategies, and emotional support as directed by the support team.
  • Facilitate community involvement and integration by planning for, and accompanying disabled adults to social events, recreational activities, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities. Encourage the development of social skills, interpersonal relationships.
  • Use of personal vehicle to transport clients on outings while adhering to traffic laws, and safety practices.
  • Submit timely requests for reimbursements for mileage and approved job related expenses.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, employers, educational institutions, and relevant service providers to ensure disabled adults have access to resources and opportunities. Build and maintain partnerships to enhance the support network for disabled adults.
  • Maintain accurate records of individual progress, training activities, and any challenges encountered.
  • Act as an advocate for disabled adults, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals during physical activities and outings by following proper safety measures, including using assistive devices, monitoring environmental hazards, and providing supervision.
  • Attends and participates in assigned meetings and in-service trainings
Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years' old
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • State minimum auto insurance
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment
  • Must pass Criminal Background Clearance
Experience & Skills:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in handling sensitive information.
  • Prior experience working with disabled adults or individuals with disabilities and knowledge of disability-related assistive devices and techniques.
  • Have communication and interpersonal skills to effectively establish rapport and build meaningful relationships with disabled adults, their families, and the community.
  • Ability to adapt training methods and techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual needs.
  • Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude toward supporting disabled adults in overcoming challenges and achieving their goals.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and make sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks and ensure efficient service delivery and timely completion of documentation.
  • Ability to provide appropriate role model for behavior, demeanor and grooming.
Physical Abilities:
  • The ability to move include walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and occasionally running or participating in physical activities with participants.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, reach, crouch, crawl, bend, climb, balance and carry.
  • Some participants may require assistance with mobility, transfers, or personal care. The supervisor may need to assist with lifting or supporting individuals who have limited mobility.
  • The supervisor may need to be physically active and capable of participating in physical activities alongside the participants.
  • It's important to note that the physical demands can vary depending on the specific needs and abilities of the individuals in the program. It is advisable to consult program to get a more accurate understanding of the physical demands associated with the role.

Salary Description


17.85-18.74 per hour
