Samaritans Purse is seeking an Investigator to join our team at our International Headquarters location in Boone, N.C . You can be a part of a highly professional Compliance team. As an Investigator you will be responsible for triaging allegations of misconduct, conducting investigations, conducting interviews, documenting all investigative outcomes, and capturing all information in the Compliance Case Management System. This includes collaborating with internal teams, contributing to related policies and training, presenting trends and program updates to other departments, and training fact-finders. In the role of Investigator, you will have the opportunity to:


  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Jesus Christ
  • Implement a strategy for global investigations at Samaritans Purse in alignment with ministry goals and conduct and supervise sensitive investigations related to allegations of fraud and other areas of gross misconduct.
  • Ensure that key takeaways and remediation are incorporated for program effectiveness following assessment, review, and investigation. Set and maintain the highest standards of integrity and coordinate with external investigative entities when appropriate.
  • Maintain strong relationships and effective communication across all business operations. Partner domestically and internationally, across operational and functional teams including Human Resources, Legal, Finance, Internal Audit, and other key business units to develop and implement enhanced and comprehensive training and awareness campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address gaps or concerns identified during the investigative process. Coordinate with external investigative entities when appropriate.
  • Conduct benchmarking with similar organizations and participate in industry roundtables. Provide reports and briefings to senior leadership regarding priority investigations, trends, and success metrics.
  • Conduct reviews and assessments of investigation response and remediation areas, including cultural and safety considerations. Work with leadership to identify program-specific issues and methods to manage and mitigate risks.
  • Continue development of beneficiary and staff reporting mechanisms, ensuring Samaritans Purse has appropriate reporting mechanisms in place. Coordinate with the investigation team to make recommended enhancements to the reporting system outlined in Samaritans Purses Reporting Concerns Policy.
  • Follow policies and procedures of Samaritans Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors and volunteers
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required in a relevant field and 3-5 years experience overseeing and leading complex investigations; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver training
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and challenging situations
  • Ability to manage investigations and teams with an international scope
  • Ability to work with vulnerable children and adults
  • Thorough knowledge of investigations of sexual abuse and exploitation and workplace sexual harassment
  • Through knowledge of investigation procedures and strategies
  • Attention to detail in both written and oral communication
  • Capacity building and change management skill set
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and challenging situations
  • Ability to manage investigations and teams with an international scope
  • Through knowledge of investigation procedures and strategies
  • Law enforcement experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with international non-profit(s) in humanitarian management skills preferred
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies preferred, not required
