Position Overview:
The Legal Operations Manager will play a critical role in managing the company’s legal processes, focusing on contract management, compliance, and supporting various legal initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with experience in both paralegal and contracts management functions. While passing the bar is not required, it is considered a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Management:
    • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including service agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, and client contracts.
    • Manage the contract lifecycle from initiation through execution and renewal.
    • Maintain a comprehensive and organized contract management system, ensuring timely updates, renewals, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  2. Legal Support:
    • Assist in the preparation and organization of legal documents, including filings, pleadings, and corporate governance materials.
    • Conduct legal research, gather information, and provide analysis on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to the transportation industry.
    • Support the legal team in dispute resolution, compliance audits, and internal investigations.
  3. Operational Efficiency:
    • Develop and implement standardized legal processes and templates to enhance efficiency and consistency across the organization.
    • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with Finance, HR, Operations, and other departments to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
    • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and monitor legal costs to optimize budget performance.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure the company’s operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Track and report on legal and regulatory developments that may impact the business.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and mitigate risks associated with contracts and business activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; paralegal certification or JD is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in a legal operations, paralegal, or contracts management role.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and contract management processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and contract management systems.
  • Experience working in the logistics, transportation, or technology industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD with relevant legal experience, though passing the bar is not required.
  • Experience in managing legal operations in a fast-paced startup or growth-oriented environment.

Why Cargomatic?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a passionate and innovative team.
  • A chance to drive impactful change in a rapidly evolving industry.

The expected salary range for this role is $120,000-135,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
