Payroll Accountant Opportunity Summary:

Essential Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Process and manage payroll for all employees accurately and timely.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions, including but not limited to wages, overtime hours, and deductions for employees.
  • Process and reconcile payroll taxes, deductions, payroll-related accounts and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to streamline payroll processes and ensure accuracy of employee data.
  • Proficient in multi-state payroll processes.
    • Stay current on federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and requirements relating to payroll processing.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and concerns.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end reports, filings, and payroll audits.
  • Responsible for maintaining payroll reports and related documents.

Work Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university in accounting or finance, 3+ years of accounting or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred but not required.
  • Multi-State payroll experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High Degree of organizational skills and the ability to develop and follow processes.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office Suite.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
